My Ebay Adventure

My ebay adventure was my first attempt at earning money on the world wide web. It began when I became caretaker of my husband, who had just had a heart attack, followed by quadruple by pass open heart surgery; and also of my mom who had just suffered a stroke. Both of these dear persons came home for me to care for them during their recovery time. At this particular time I discovered Ebay and it was my daily therapy, providing my quality "me" time, I so desperately needed. I started out with small crocheted doilies, then moved on to the quilting department, offering quilt blocks and tops, some sets of blocks, and some miniature paper pieced blocks. This gave me something to do with my hands, and yet let me fulfill the creative need I had. I was actually doing something constructive with my time. Well, some 8 years later I am still enjoying the adventure. Although my mom passed away with the occurance of another stroke, from which she could not recover; my husband has recovered nicely, though he's disabled and now totally retired. I currently design and create childrens boutique wear, often UNIQUE and One Of A Kind items for that special little one! I am a proud member of a wonderful group of designers known as The Posh Monkeys, you can search POSHM to see what great designs this group has to offer. Photography - A Hobby or Business?

At what point does one's hobby cease being that, and becomes a business instead? My camera is often found in my hand ready to capture that perfect memory, you know the kind of memory that only a picture can translate to another person. The picture of the stop action of the bat hitting the ball, when my granddaughter hit her first homerun in slow pitch softball. Or the one when she's positioned herself properly to tag the runner, trying to steal a base in a fast pitch softball game. Soon I found myself making pictures of all the members of her team, in action packed games, only to present these to the moms of the other girls. One such Mom had not been able to attend any of the games, and was able to share in her daughters memories, just by seeing the pictures. Hmmmmm... could I have made some money? Probably, yes, but I didn't. However, the wheels did start turning in that direction. With a little encouragment, and discovering there are places who will pay for stock pictures. I haven't actually sold any yet, but I have uploaded quite a few for the world to see. And the wheels keep turning as to other ways to make my love of photography into a business.

True Opportunity

Back several months ago, when the idea of "OPPORTUNITY DOCK" was first presented to me, it seemed like something that could only happen in a dream. Although I didn't totally understand the concept of it, I continued to work on my site. Little by little the pieces began to fall into place. One of the first concepts I learned was that of using Google Ad Sense, and of course the Google search engine. Then I began to work with some affiliate programs, placing their ads in the Opportunity Dock Market Place, and adding some to my pages, as well. Within this community you can find a wide range of items to purchase via the internet. Now I'm learning how to connect up with websites that can help direct traffic to this communtiy within the bounds of Opportunity Dock. Now with the possibility of it all coming together and looming in the days ahead of us, I am soo excited to be a participant of this true opportunity, and I eagerly await the time when the work begans to pay off.
