My ebay adventure was my first attempt at earning money on the world wide web. It began when I became caretaker of my husband, who had just had a heart attack, followed by quadruple by pass open heart surgery; and also of my mom who had just suffered a stroke. Although my mom passed away with the occurance of another stroke, from which she could not recover; my husband has recovered nicely, though he's disabled and now totally retired.

At what point does one's hobby cease being that, and becomes a business instead? My camera is often found in my hand ready to capture that perfect memory, you know the kind of memory that only a picture can translate to another person. The picture of the stop action of the bat hitting the ball, when my granddaughter hit her first homerun in slow pitch softball. Or the one when she's positioned herself properly to tag the runner, trying to steal a base in a fast pitch softball game. Soon I found myself making pictures of all the members of her team, in action packed games, only to present these to the moms of the other girls. One such Mom had not been able to attend any of the games, and was able to share in her daughters memories, just by seeing the pictures. Hmmmmm... could I have made some money? Probably, yes, but I didn't. However, the wheels did start turning in that direction. With a little encouragment, and discovering there are places who will pay for stock pictures. I haven't actually sold any yet, but I have uploaded quite a few for the world to see. And the wheels keep turning as to other ways to make my love of photography into a business.

Over the years of being a gambler I learnt some very important lessons about gambling. Don't risk more than you can afford and just as important is to use a gambling system. Well it has been a few weeks now since I gave you all an update on what is happening with my two small businesses.
I updated you on the market stall venture, which did not go too well but never mind it was a learning experience.
My fudge is turning over which is good. I still don't have it in a whole lot of outlets but I have had some feedback and it is positive which is good.
As Christmas is now only eight weeks away, it is time for my Christmas earrings and just yesterday I managed to source an outlet at one of our giftware stores in Ulladulla. I was extremely pleased as I was not sure whether they would be interested but surprise surprise I sold 14 pairs of my earrings to them and lets hope it is the start of something there for the impending festive season.
I have two other outlets to put my earrings in at this stage and as it is coming up to the end of October now is the time.
So that is a brief update on what is happening in my small businesses. Donna

I have been out of work for a while, I became disable and have not been in the best of health. Its been a long battle over the last couple of years not just for me but my children….
I have a server heart condition and a couple of years of ago it started to fail. After multiple surgeries I had to close my company down…That was like lousing a body part. Rip my heart right out ( no pun intended)
When that happened I lost my only source of income to feed my children, put clothes, on their back, and pay my mortgage on my house.
Well I had to sell the house and my girls lost the only home they had ever known, and say good bye to their friends. Which was hard on them to see your children so up set is very painful knowing that there is nothing you can do.
We been living in small 4 room apartment since then, with all 3 girls sharing a tiny bedroom.
Its be a long slow recovery with a lot of set backs on the way to where I am now…I can sit at computer for about 1 hour at a time and then need to rest. Which is a lot more than I could do six months ago.
As I said I have and had a lot of set backs…Last Saturday night 10/7/07 again I was rushed to a hospital because my heart stop and luckily I was able to be saved.
So I been trying to teach my self HTML, CSS so I might be able to make some money by building web sites hence contact with Paul
If the stress is not to much, it does not take a lot to affect me now.
My Mission is to make enough money or have enough donations so I can once again provide my children a home.
I know my time is short so I would like to have the house free and clear with no mortgage on it….

I like the idea of a recipe site. I enjoy cooking myself and it is always good to be able to get new and interesting recipes to try. I price sounds okay. A idea would be that the recipes be as easy as possible because I believe that you can be put off by complicated recipes and too many ingredients.
Here's an easy one to try:
Italian Meatball Soup
Ingredients (4 serves)
500g lean beef mince
1 small red onion, grated
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1/2 cup fresh white breadcrumbs
1/3 cup basil leaves, finely chopped
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 egg, lightly beaten
700g bottle (2 3/4 cups) tomato paste sauce with basil
4 cups chicken stock
1/2 cup risoni pasta (soup pasta)
2 zucchinis, diced
150g green beans, trimmed, cut into thirds
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese and crusty Italian bread, to serve
Method:
Combine mince, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, basil, parmesan and egg in a large bowl. season with salt and pepper. Mix well. Roll tablespoonfuls of mixture into balls. Place on a large plate.
Pour tomato sauce, stock and 2 cups water into a large, deep saucepan. Cover and bring to boil over high heat. Skim froth from surface. Add meatballs. Return to a gentle boil.
Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Add risoni and cook for a further 5 minutes. Add zucchini and beans. cook for 5 minutes or until risoni and vegetables are tender.
Ladle soup into serving bowls. Sprinkle with parmesan and serve with crusty Iltalian bread.

Well, it seems all the shock of the payout from Yuwie has made people take a second look. There are still plenty a new member coming in, but the regulars just don't visit as often now. "Hang on people" this is still a great place to commune. Forget about making money here. Just enjoy the space and the ease of being able to keep in touch and share in each others friendship. Try reaching out to everyone and say hey, it was a good thought but it just didn't happen. Who knows maybe the guys running Yuwie will come up with a better idea on how to spread the wealth and everyone will be alot happier. Many people will tell you it's early days yet,.....give it a chance. Do some research, most sites that have massive growth make most of their money in the first few months then they stabilise. Ask a business analyst or even a banker. They will tell you, no successful business makes money in the first two years. I recently got an idea for a small business. The business was making handmade fudge. The idea presented itself to me while I recently was participating in a Barista's course. In taking the course I was hoping to understand more about the art of making a good coffee. As we were discussing different elements of business the tutor said that he makes fudge which he sells in his cafe in Bendigo. So I thought that I would give the idea a go and decided to run the idea past the couple that run a speciality tea and coffee house in Ulladulla, NSW (Something's Brewing) . They were willing to give my idea a go and from there the small business being called 'Donna's Fabulous Fudge' was born. I am new at this small business idea myself, but have had some very helpful input from my husband and from the couple who are willing to sell my fudge for me. It is early days yet and I have to take on board a lot of the ideas given to me but here's hoping that with time, some trial and error (no doubt) and confidence the business will be a good money earner for me. Business starts from an idea, sometimes big, sometimes small and hopefully grows to a bigger idea, literally overnight in some cases. For me I have a couple of small businesses underway. During our recent around Australia trip in 2006, we visited the lovely seaside town of Yamba on the NSW north coast, when I was browsing in a craft shop and got the inkling to make some Christmas earrings for presents. From there I started making the earrings. I was lucky that I didn't do too bad out of the ones I made for Christmas 2006 and already in September 2007, I have been given the opportunity to put my earrings in one of the beauty salons here in town. Last year I also approached one of the hair salons in town and the ladies that run the salon were only too happy to put the earrings on their counter for me, which proved to be a good way to sell them. So I am now in the process of making more. This year there will be different dangles and here's hoping that they will be more successful this Christmas 2007. Donna
